Visit to International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
Who cares about Gender and humanitarian actions?
Last month, I visited ICRC in Geneva from HKU-MBA ESG Club to learn about their vision and work.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. They take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law.
They work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and their International Federation to ensure a concerted, rational, and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence.
These cards were established in Geneva by the Prisoners of War International Agency. Each card for each person mentioned in the lists that the Agency received from the belligerents countries was established.
I was able to touch and feel some prisoners letters that were written in World War I and II
How does the ICRC respond to the UN SDGs?
In areas affected by conflict and violence, many of the SDGs reflect humanitarian needs to which the ICRC responds. This is a crucial point: the extent to which ICRC activities can help to bring populations closer to the SDGs, depends on the behavior and choices made by authorities and arms bearers.

After my visit, I realized we all want to help, but most of the time, we are unsure how to reach out to people who are suffering or in pain.
Red cross and UNESCO are institutions leading the way, and you can always find ways to join them and contribute.
You can live a life with a purpose if you want to serve humanity; it starts with being compassionate towards yourself and others.
